WORCESTER, Mass. - Burncoat High School's football team was back on the field on Friday after having to sit out last week's game due to players testing positive for COVID-19.
The school district says since August 31, more than 400 students and about 160 staff members have tested positive.
Last week, 11 Burncoat High football players tested positive for COVID-19.
School safety director Rob Pezzella says he wants parents to know Worcester is working hard to notify close contacts.
“If their son or daughter is near an individual student who tests positive, they are being notified that they have been a close contract and to be aware of their symptoms going forward,” Pezzella said.
Pezzella is also asking parents to get their children tested if they have symptoms of COVID-19.
