STERLING, Mass. - Another fall tradition returned to New England Saturday. The Davis Mega Maze is now open on weekends and Columbus Day until Oct. 24, weather permitting.
Three miles of paths are carved into the eight-acre corn field. This year's theme is “Where’s Waldo.” There's also life-size cutouts of some celebrities hidden throughout the maze. In addition to fall classics like apple cider donuts, the farmland is serving award-winning Kansas City BBQ with craft beer and fine wine. There are different difficulty levels. So you can spend a few hours or the entire day in the maze.
"As they go through the maze just to complete it, they'll find some of those cool other things that they could have done had they chosen to," said the maze's co-owner Larry Davis. "So if they want to, you can come here, spend the entire day just mazing, try to get all seven of those intensity levels which might include you finish the maze but you also get to go over all the bridges. So you figure out how to do that plus there is all kinds of games and things like that to solve."
"Oh, it's the funnest part of fall over here," said pitmaster Josh Freda. "I mean, it's everything all together. Family, food, fun, entertainment, it's the best time of the year by far."
The maze is open Saturdays 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Davis Farmland says you can receive a discount if you reserve your tickets online.
