WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Public School Committee released district guidelines for the upcoming school year.
All students will take part in full time in-person learning and masks will be required inside school buildings.
Students taking the bus are asked to wear a mask, face forward at all times and refrain from eating, or sharing items. Windows on the bus will stay open for the ride.
Anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms is asked to stay home. Students or staff who test positive will follow isolation protocols for up to 10 days. S students will be given packets for them to stay up to date with classwork.
Superintendent Maureen Binienda says this year they're researching the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE) new "Test and Stay" program. The program will allow for unvaccinated students and staff who are a close contact, but are asymptomatic or experiencing mild symptoms, to stay in school. They will receive a test every day for five days. The testing is free.
DESE is not requiring any social distancing requirements, however it's recommended when possible. Water bubblers and fountains will be shut off.
There isn’t a vaccination mandate for students or staff.
