PITTSFIELD, Mass. - A room in the basement of the Berkshire Dream Center in Pittsfield has been transformed to look like a restaurant.
But it’s actually a new restaurant-style soup kitchen, set to open this fall.
Everyone in the community will be welcome to come to the Bright Morningstar Kitchen for a free meal and a full restaurant experience.
The kitchen will be fully staffed with cooks, waiters, and hostesses, and serve as a workforce development program for local schools and restaurants.
As for what’s going to be on the menu, the center is asking people for recipes to be featured both at the kitchen and in a new 'Morningside Community Cookbook.’
“We’re already in the process of collecting those, and some of them are really good,” said executive director, Katelynn Miner. “We need everything, from appetizers to salads to entrees. We’re getting a lot of desserts, that seems to be a favorite, but we need everything.”
People are asked to send in their recipes to berkshiredreamcenter@gmail.com by September 1, and the goal is to open the kitchen sometime in October.
