WORCESTER, Mass. - A pair of Worcester police officers were honored Monday for their heroic actions.

Officers Timothy Foley and Daniel Pennellatore rescued an 89-year-old woman from a house fire on Chilmark Street in February.

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early, Jr. awarded the men with a Team Excellence and Merit (TEAM) Award.

In the early morning of Feb. 27, Officer Foley and Officer Pennellatore were dispatched to 73 Chilmark Street. A fire had broken out on the third-floor porch and eventually engulfed the home in flames. Residents of the building called for help as they were working to bring the woman down a flight of stairs to safety when Officers Foley and Pennellatore rushed into the home and carried the woman down the stairs and out the door. The woman was treated by paramedics and was not seriously injured.

The TEAM award was created in 2019. It recognizes outstanding service by people in public safety.
