WORCESTER, Mass. - A new set of wheels for Worcester Yellow Cab means more people will be able to get around the city. 

"We are trying to help accommodate a part of the community that we think has been underserviced," said Bill Clark, owner and vice president of Worcester Yellow Cab. 

The company added three wheelchair accessible vans to its fleet. Before July,  they didn't offer any.

"We've been getting some calls recently," said Clark. "Another company was doing it, but they are no longer providing that service so we thought it would be a good opportunity to get involved."

For residents like Christina Parissi, it is good news. 

"I love it." said Parissi. "I think its very important that people like me are able to get around in a cab the same way any other person could."

Parissi was born with spastic cerebral palsy and has been in a wheelchair almost all of her life. When it comes to getting somewhere fast, cabs are one of her only options specially if she's headed to a doctor's appointment. 

"There wasn't any options unless you had a friend to drive your handicap van," Parissi said. "So now we have transportation on demand which is very neat."​

At least two accessible cabs will be running at a time. Parissi said she's a fan. She has taken the cab to appointments downtown. 

"It was a new, interesting experience to be able to go somewhere in a cab myself," said Parissi. "It is something everyone else does everyday and doesn't think twice which is pretty neat."

Worcester Yellow Cab recommends booking the accessible cabs in advance, but they do offers instant response.
