WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester police officers took a woman into custody Tuesday morning following a long pursuit which reportedly went through multiple communities.

Police have identifed the woman as 38-year-old Johanna Gardell.

Police say the incident involved a stolen truck from Lake Avenue and a Worcester police cruiser had to be towed from the scene with a flat tire. Police say at one point the Gardell struck and dragged an officer with the truck.

Sources tell Spectrum News 1 Gardell traveled up Madison Street and through Kelley Square, then making her way through the Vernon Hill and Grafton Hill neighborhoods.

Worcester police officers and Massachusetts State Police troopers caught up with Gardell when she stopped at a McDonald’s drive-thru on Shrewsbury Street. Police say she rammed a police cruiser and another vehicle in the McDonald's parking lot.

Following Gardell's arrest, she was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated.  The investigation is ongoing.
