WORCESTER, Mass. - A downtown Worcester building is being considered for the National Register of Historic Places.
At Thursday's historical commission meeting, members announced the building at 52 High Street, home of Abby's House -- a women's shelter and advocacy nonprofit organization -- received a positive national register determination of eligibility.
The building, formerly known as Saint Joseph's Home for Working Girls, was constructed in 1910, according to city records.
The property is applying to receive historic tax credits and will soon go before the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places review board in hopes of being listed.
