OXFORD, Mass. - Police tape was still visible Wednesday at 234 Old Webster Road in Oxford, where Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early, Jr. said an apparent murder-suicide happened the night before.

"When they got to the house they found a woman deceased in the kitchen who had died apparently from a gunshot wound," Early said. "Behind the house, they found a male who lived in the house as well, also dead from a gun shot wound."

DA Early said three children were inside the house at the time shots were fired. Two of them escaped to a neighbor's house.

"The 13-year-old was a pretty courageous young kid," Early said. "He took the four-year-old into his arms, opened the window and ran out of the window to a neighbor's house."

When Oxford police arrived on scene, they rescued a three-year-old from inside.  DA Early said it appears two 9-1-1 calls were made  from inside the house. The first one came in around 5:15 p.m.

"The woman called first. There were sounds, we aren't exactly sure what was on the 9-1-1 call," Early said. "Then I've been told by the Oxford police that he then called himself. That call got bounced because the Oxford police were on the call with the woman. That call got bounced to the State Police."
