WORCESTER, Mass. - Two Massachusetts food banks that work to end hunger in our communities have each received large donations.

At its annual meeting held at Polar Park in Worcester on Monday, Country Bank surprised the executive directors of the Worcester County Food Bank and the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts with checks of $500,000 each.

The pandemic has increased food insecurity, and the bank’s one million dollar pledge will go a long way in the communities these food banks serve.  Country Bank says they’re “throwing hunger a curveball” and know the donation will be put to good use.

In 2020, Country Bank donated over $1 million to 450 nonprofits that support food pantries, veterans, homeless shelters, and COVID-19 relief.
