WORCESTER, Mass. - The City of Worcester is hopeful construction on the planned Crompton Park Skatepark will start this fall and can open sometime next summer.
According to Department of Public Works and Parks Assistant Commissioner Rob Antonelli, the City is in the process of bidding the skatepark project and they're hoping to be open those bids in the next few weeks.
"Basically what we’re looking to do is start construction in the fall probably some time in September, October. We will put a hard stop on construction as we get into the winter months, particularly pouring concrete for the amenities going into the sites. Most concrete will get poured in spring of 2022," Antonelli said in an interview on Wednesday. "We think we will be able to open up mid to late summer of 2022."
The master plan for the skatepark was approved earlier this year. The skatepark will be located at the corner of Quinsigamond Avenue and Endicott Street behind the park's softball diamond.
Plans for the skatepark include ramps, corner whips, a raised deck, beginner drop-ins, stairs will rails, a bowl and more.
A video released last year details the plans here:
