WORCESTER, Mass. - The Burnside Fountain, better known to Worcester residents as "Turtle Boy,” is looking a little different after some regular maintenance.
The iconic statue located on the Worcester Commons is being cleaned by historic preservationists this week, something routinely done to monuments across the city.
The statue is generally known to be green in color, but the recent cleaning has turned “Turtle Boy” bronze. Some on social media have voiced their disappointment with the color change.
The preservationists say the statue is in excellent condition and the cleaning is guaranteed to last over 20 years, but could last longer with some rudimentary cleaning.
