WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester police are investigating the shooting of a 77-year-old man on Wednesday evening near Sunderland Road.
According to the Worcester Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly before 6 p.m. to 308 Southwest Cutoff for a report of several people fighting.
En route to the call, officers were informed someone had been shot. When they arrived, they found a 77-year-old male gunshot victim who had been shot in the leg. A 74-year-old male had also been struck in the face with a rock.
Both victims were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
Police say their initial investigation indicates several individuals on dirt bikes were driving erratically on Sunderland Road on to Southwest Cutoff. The two male victims were in a vehicle together and one of them got into a verbal argument with the dirt bike riders.
A physical confrontation ensued resulting in the victims' injuries.
