WORCESTER, Mass. - A familiar face in Worcester County threw on a pair of gloves and hopped behind the counter at a Polar Park concession stand on Tuesday night.

Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis, joined by some Worcester County sheriff deputies, served food and beer to hungry baseball fans during the Worcester Red Sox first game of a six game homestand against Rochester.

Evangelidis and the deputies weren’t doing it just for fun. The Sheriff’s office was helping raise money for local nonprofit Be Like Brit. The sheriff says the cause is near and dear to his heart.

“It’s personal to me because it happened when I was a state representative. That's when everything happened with Britney (Gengel) and I was close with her family,” Evangelidis said. “It's a personal cause for me, and I love the fact she's dedicated herself to a wonderful organization that helps the youth of Haiti right now, we're blessed to be part of it and help out a bit"

Proceeds from the concession stand’s sales benefited Be like Brit.
