CHICOPEE, Mass. - McKinstry Market Garden is officially reopen with their brand new facility.
The family says they had their fair share of challenges, but overall, are excited with how quick construction went and are happy to have customers back in the store.
"It was a very stressful process for my entire family, but we are happy to be open in May and see our customers again," said Will McKinstry.
Back in January when Spectrum News 1 was at the McKinstry's market, the new market was under construction. The family decided it was time to expand, tearing down their store built in the 1950's to build a new one which is nearly twice the size.
"It is a big change," said Warren McKinstry. "Before we were working on a really small confided space, no AC, no heat and now it is larger scale and we have those nicer accommodations too."
It is a new chapter for the more than century old family-owned Chicopee farm. Brothers Warren and Will are excited for new opportunities and the future.
"Everyone was here at once. It was a big job, but everyone pulled together. We got along and got it completed in time. It was really great," said Warren McKinstry.
They said the expansion helps them keep up with demand and they couldn't have done it without the community's support.
"We are really excited to see a lot of our familiar customers that have been coming to our old store for many years. And we are excited to offer them new products in our new store. So it's nice seeing everybody and we hope to draw new people into the store too," said Will McKinstry.
The McKinstrys said they are still working on some things around the store and are still adding new products. One thing people can expect to see is ice cream sometime in June.
