DUDLEY, Mass. - Dudley Police are investigating a home invasion where a 26-year-old man was shot in the chest. 

It happened just after midnight Wednesday on Green Street. 

Police say its unclear how many people forced their way into the first floor apartment. 

A woman and two children were also inside. 

Dudley Police Chief Steven Wojnar says the shooting does not appear to be a random act. 

Wojnar said, "We did not receive any other calls or reports of any other violence that took place in that neighborhood last night. The fortunate thing would be is if we could get some information from people to help us to locate these individuals or this individual because we'd like to get them off the street and charged."

The victim suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive.

Police are actively investigating.​
