WORCESTER, Mass. - Thousands of young men have hit, blocked, tackled, caught passes and learned about football on the Doherty High football practice field over the last 55 years.
The Highlanders practicing for the last time ever on the patch of dirt, a little grass and some rocks. The new school will be built on the site, so it was an emotional day for the players and the coaches, almost all of whom have played for Doherty and have fond memories of that practice field.
Kevin Shea was there for the final time the maroon and gold helmets and shoulder pads popped on the field.
