WORCESTER, Mass. - A local gym is adding an outdoor space and expanding programming to keep kids healthy and active this summer.

Worcester Fitness had unused space behind the building and cleared it out to allow for recreation and arts and crafts spaces.

They weren't able to hold their school vacation and summer camps over the last year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Worcester Fitness sales director Andy Sharry says the gym had to close for four months and they’re seeing a big demand from parents to keep their kids active.

Sharry said, “It’s so important to get the kids moving and parents are flooding here. We have an April vacation camp that's completely filled. That filled in one week. And our summer camp, the enrollment is booming. We only have a few slots left for that summer camp."

Sharry says the outdoor space will be ready in time for their summer camp program.
