WORCESTER, Mass. - A $60,000 grant will help businesses in Worcester's Main South neighborhood impacted by COVID-19.

The Main South CDC received the money in the fall and says they've distributed nearly all of it to main south businesses.

CDC Executive Director Steve Teasdale says the money has helped businesses who have not had access to federal relief programs.

They also received state money last April and said between the two rounds, they're able to give out more than 30 grants between $2,500 and $5,000.

"A majority of those we’re minority businesses. The owners had incomes of about between $35,000 and $40,000 a year in that range. It was valuable money for people who needed it at the time to survive" said Teasdale.

The Greater Chicopee Chamber of Commerce also received a $60,000 grant. MassDevelopment is currently accepting applications for another round. Applications will be accepted until April 7.
