Governor Charlie Baker announced the timeline for the rest of the state’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan Wednesday.

Employees at Fairway Beef in Worcester can sign up to get a COVID-19 vaccine starting on Monday.

“I was excited. I'm very much looking forward to getting it. We're on the front lines, we're dealing with the public," said Brian Saneson, a meat clerk at Fairway Beef.

“I'm so thrilled. They are thrilled, and we can't wait until everybody gets vaccinated. It's a scary thing to go through and every day is a blessing that we're still in business," said George Sigel, co-owner of Fairway Beef.

Grocery store workers are among a group of workers who will become eligible for the vaccine on March 22. George Sigel said Fairway Beef has been open throughout the pandemic and it’s been busy.

“It wasn’t easy getting supplies of meat, but we had to keep this place going and by doing that we had to keep things safe," said Sigel.

Sigel said he hopes the vaccine, along with masks, will continue to protect his employees and their families. Brian Saneson has an 11-month-old son.

“I want to keep my family as safe as possible as well," said Saneson.

Grocery store workers aren't the only ones who are excited to get the vaccine, funeral home directors and funeral home employees said they've been waiting, too.

“We have worked in very close contact right from the beginning of the pandemic with both people who have passed from COVID and family members who have had COVID themselves," said Heather Carr Reiter, Director at Carr Funeral Home.

Reiter said many funeral homes in Massachusetts are disappointed it took this long to become eligible, but they're ready.

“It's exciting. I think all funeral directors have been looking forward to their time to be eligible and they feel a sense of relief. I know I feel a little bit relieved knowing that it's time," said Carr Reiter.

In the meantime, these workers will stay on the job, like they have been all through the pandemic.
