A Grafton dad goes on a long run this weekend to raise awareness about a rare disease.
Chris Marino ran 48 miles in 48 hours, completing the journey in four mile, four hour chunks.
His 12-year-old son, Brayden, was diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) in 2019.
The disease affects the brain, spinal cord and adrenal glands.
Marino said he wanted to raise money for a Mass General doctor researching the disease.
"I actually said to my running buddy last year we have to do this at some point. This is really cool. Not thinking of it as a fundraiser. Cut to this year and it was in my brain and I thought that might be an interesting challenge, not only for me personally, but as a means for us to kick off our fundraiser this year," said Marino.
He raised more than $20,000 dollars this weekend.
You can still donate to the research at Mass General.
