STURBRIDGE, Mass. - Two of Sturbridge's longest residents are turning another year old.

On March 8, Cecile Hewitt will be 104 years old, making her the oldest resident in town. "I never think like that, I'm just a person in town." she said.

On March 3, her husband Roland turns 100.

Better known as "Rollie," the World War II veteran served in the United States Marine Corps. He survived the attack on Pearl Harbor.

"He came home from the service and I met him and thought 'Oh boy, that's a pretty nice guy.'" Cecile said. The two married in 1948 and have been living at their home on Cedar Street ever since.

Family, friends and town leaders organized a birthday parade to celebrate a century of life.

"The parade was just out of this world." Cecile said. The couple was more than surprised. Hewitt said she knew something was happening, but didn't know it was going to be for them.

The years haven't slowed them down a bit. Family members describe the two as a pair unlike any other.

"You don't see people like that anymore. People who really give themselves and don't expect anything in return. They really are just steady." said Scot Mayfield, the Hewitt's nephew.

Rollie is known for his jokes and humors. Mayfield recalls him always laughing and having something funny to say. When asked the secret to a long life, Rollie joked and said a good beer.
