WORCESTER, Mass. - A team of WPI students and graduates is competing in the Discovery Channel series BattleBots on Thursday, January 28 at 8 PM.

The nine team members and their robot, “Ribbot,” compete against others from across the globe in a combat robotics tournament. 

Ribbot is a bright green, frog-like battle bot, who proudly wears the WPI logo. Ribbot weighs 250 pounds and can travel up to 20 miles per hour.

This is the team's second season with the show.  They're excited to represent WPI and compete.

Team Captain David Jin said, “The one thing that still gets to me being their second season, when we are at the box preparing for the figh, there is a light show, people cheering, the anxiety level is higher than its ever been, a lot to take in an adrenaline high. It's fun."

The team can't say how their bot does in the competition, but they do say to prepare for a lot of sparks.
