WORCESTER, Mass. - Breen's Cafe in Worcester is urging other businesses to reach out for assistance from The Barstool Fund.
Barstool Sports announced Tuesday that Breen’s would be a recipient of assistance through the fund.
Breen’s co-owner Matt Hanlon sent a video to Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy explaining how the state's COVID-19 shutdown and restrictions have impacted their business.
Hanlon says he was shocked when he actually got a call from Portnoy telling him they were chosen.
Hanlon had this advice to other small businesses struggling: “Don't be afraid to reach out and these people are doing what they're doing to help us. Take the help. We didn't ask for [the pandemic] and were going to have to get through it."
As of Wednesday afternoon, The Barstool Fund has raised more than $32 million and helped nearly 200 businesses.
