WORCESTER, Mass. - The coronavirus pandemic cancels another major celebration.

The Worcester County St. Patrick's Parade is canceled for the second year in a row.

Parade Committee chairwoman Mary Ellen Murphy says although they're extremely sad, the committee felt it was the right decision.

The parade would've celebrated it's 39th year in 2021.  Murphy says she is hoping for a big celebration next year for the 40th anniversary.

Murphy said, “We’re hoping next year the parade will be 40 years old. We’re hoping to give Worcester a huge Irish celebration. We’re still also looking for new parade members. If you’re interested, you don't have to be irish to join us"

This year’s parade was scheduled for Sunday, March 14.
