WORCESTER, Mass. - New housing in Worcester's Main Middle Neighborhood will provide homes to two families.

The New Americans Community Development Corporation has been working to bring this type of affordable housing to the area.

On Friday, they cut the ribbon on their first two units on Sycamore Street. They are one and two bedroom apartments with two full bathrooms and an electric fireplace.

"Many people came from Puerto Rico to be with their relatives after the hurricane and that made our housing have a shortage and the city itself with the mayor started a situation where we needed to create affordable housing for the many people relocating here in addition to the natural growth Worcester is having," said NACDC President, Robert Thomas.

They will begin accepting applications for these apartments next week and plan on accepting Section 8 vouchers as well as other housing vouchers.
