WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester City Councilor Khrystian King is hoping the City can start cleaning up Coes Pond and Hillside Beach.

King says the hope is to improve accessibility in Hillside beach and make sure the public spaces are clean. King also says after further inspection of the water, foreign objects like cars and televisions were discovered, and the goal is to get those out as well.

King says with the City investing millions into their parks over the last five years, it's important to bring Coes and Hillside beaches a useful, safe resource.

"The neighborhood associations, the residents, they'd really like to see Hillside Beach in that area cleaned up. It has been neglected for a period of time and we'd like to see it cleaned up and make sure we're treating all parts of Coes Pond equally," King said.

King's order Tuesday will ask the City to open and unlock the gated fence of the park at Stearn's Tavern, in order to allow for increased access to the park, playground, trails, and beaches of Coes Pond.
