WORCESTER, Mass. - A nonprofit is spending Veterans Day ensuring no veteran goes hungry.

Project New Hope’s Executive Director Bill Moore and volunteers spent Wednesday morning restocking their food pantry.

Moore says food insecurity has been on the rise during COVID-19. They've seen more than a 50 percent increase in visitors.

They've also been delivering food to older veterans who are staying home, due to high risk. Moore says they want veterans and their families to know they're here to help.

Moore delivered a message to veterans in need: "I'm hoping the veterans or military watching this that need a hand up, that they would contact Project New Hope on 70 James Street in Worcester and come on down. We can help you with Thanksgiving and a meal and non-perishable foods. We can help you with your Christmas for toys and stuff for your children. We don't want to have them go without. We want them to just come on down and we can help them out.”

Moore says they're having a Veterans Food Drive until November 23. There are collection points at their office on James St., the Auburn Police Department, Tiny Tim's Restaurant in Auburn and Tony's Automotive in South Grafton.
