Veterans in Central Massachusetts were honored Sunday with a small parade in Northborough.
The nonprofit Boros Cares 4 Troops hosted the parade to say thank you to the town's veterans.
The celebration started at the Vincent F. Picard Legion Post and traveled down Main Street.
More than 90 banners were placed on telephone poles along the street as part of the "Hometown Heroes" Initiative.
This year, the town was forced to cancel their normal Veterans Day festivities, but the nonprofit still wanted to show their appreciation.
Karen Brewster of Boros Cares 4 Troops said, "There are so many more veterans out there that deserve recognition and this is our way of being able to let the community know there are so many veterans in our neighborhood that they don't even know about, they quietly go through their life and most people don't even know they are veterans."
Central Massachusetts Veterans Services Director Justin Sousa said, "I think Northborough is very lucky because they have this organization in town. Most other towns have a legion or VFW, but no other town has a group like Boros Cares 4 Troops. It has definitely specifically shown with the banner program, that's a huge leap of support for veterans."
This year's parade was led by the town's police chief, William Lyver.
Veterans Day is this Wednesday.
