WORCESTER, Mass. - Friday is the last day for early voting ahead of next week's election and, despite the snow, voters are making their way to the polls.

Worcester City Clerk Niko Vangjeli says they had a line of people outside the Worcester State University Wellness Center when they opened at 9 AM and have seen steady foot traffic since.

The location will be open until 5 PM. The state says so far almost 44% of registered voters have cast ballots. Vangjeli says at this point, if you're still planning to vote using a mail in ballot, you should use the city's drop off boxes.

"We have been advertising drop them off at the fire stations or city hall. At this point as an election official, I wouldn't rely on the mail system. Just utilize the drop off boxes. We collect twice a day. We collect once in the morning around 9 am and then at 5 pm as well. They are very secure as we've been telling folks the ones at fire stations and city hall are secure,” Vangjeli said.

Chicopee residents can vote at City Hall from 9 AM to 5 PM and Pittsfield City Hall will host early voting from 8 30 AM to 4 PM. The Secretary of the Commonwealth's office reports more than 2.1 million people have already voted and more than 60% of them voted by mail.
