October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and a central Massachusetts nonprofit is hoping to bring the community together by honoring victims.

The YWCA of Central Massachusetts hosted a vigil Monday night outside Worcester City Hall. It's part of their month-long domestic violence awareness campaign. The vigil honored community members who lost their lives due to domestic violence and featured the raising of the purple flag.

The YWCA invites the community to take a stand, support survivors and speak out all month long.

There has been an increase in domestic violence cases with more people staying home during the pandemic. If you or someone you think may be a victim of domestic violence, you can contact the YWCA 24-hour helpline at 508-755-9030 or the chat line at w-w-w-dot-ywca-help-dot-com.
