The family of Holly Piirainen is grateful as there may be a new lead in her nearly three-decade old case. The body of a young man was reportedly exhumed in Hampden County in connection to Piirainen's disappearance.
The 10-year-old Piirainen went missing in 1993 while visiting her grandparents in Sturbridge. Her remains were later found in Brimfield.
Holly's aunt Carla Jackman says while the family cannot comment, they appreciate the support they've received.
She says in a statement, "We (also) are extremely grateful to the hardworking law enforcement for continuing to work so diligently on Holly’s case. The fact they are still very actively following leads after 27 years is encouraging for our family."
The family is still offering a 40 thousand dollar reward for information leading to a conviction. Anyone with information on Holly's case can call (413) 505-5993.
