After 95 years in business, Table Talk Pies is moving some of their operations out of Worcester's Canal District. The current facility on Washington Street near Kelley Square and across from Polar Park opened in 1942.

A new 135,000 square foot facility is being built a mile away on Gardner Street in Main South, and is expected to be completed by August of next year. Table Talk's President Harry Kokkinis says the plan is to create 50 jobs at the new facility.

He says the company is talking with potential developers and the city to see what kind of use they could have for the Kelley Square building. Kokkinis believes there is great potential for the building.

"It's amazing now what's happening in the canal district. The canal district was growing even before the ballpark. And now with a ballpark, I think it's going to be taking off. It's a real exciting time in the canal district and we hope we can help by having four acres here for new development."

Kokkinis says he is happy to see the company expanding. Table Talk is not leaving Kelley Square completely, however. They plan to keep the Pie Store open on Green Street.
