The Lenox Chamber of Commerce is preparing for its first ever downtown Art Walk this weekend.
Jenn Nacht, the Chamber's Executive Director, said, "Typically, this is our weekend for the Apple Squeeze, which brings 15,000 people to town over two days. Obviously. we're not able to do that because of COVID, so we decided to shift gears."
The event features a special sculpture display in Lilac Park and more than thirty artists from all over the Northeast.
Nacht says the artists will be set up in several small villages throughout downtown Lenox to display their work.
"The artists that we have are high-end artists, it's not a craft show. There's some beautiful things, ceramics, paintings, all mediums, some clothing," Nacht said, adding they wanted to hold some kind of event to not only help artists affected by the pandemic, but to also to bring people into downtown to support the local businesses.
"All of our restaurants are supporting the event. On our digital guide, you'll be able to order directly from the restaurants," she said.
If this weekend goes well, they'll host more art walks in the future, in addition to bringing back the Apple Squeeze next year.
Nacht said, "I think we'll do something else in the spring or early summer to kick off the summer season, and then yes, this weekend will return as the Apple Squeeze, but it's going to be, I think, a very different looking event, so we'll just have to wait and see."
The Art Walk will run from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, September 26 and 10 AM to 4PM on Sunday, September 27, and the entire event is free and open to the public.
