Progress is being made on the construction of the new South High Community School in Worcester.

The new school is being constructed at the site of the current school, which was built in the 1970s.

Once completed, the building will be 246,000 square feet and will include a 750-seat auditorium, a cafeteria with a bistro and bakery, and a media center.  The new South High will also feature space for culinary arts, and early education and childcare programs.

The school grounds will receive upgrades with a new football field, a solar parking lot canopy and a rain garden. The construction is expected to be completed next year.
