A Massachusetts justice of the peace says this wedding season includes many challenges and obstacles.
Phil Robo says he’s had couples cancel or push off their ceremonies. Right now, he’s officiating about two scaled-back weddings a weekend, each with 15 to 20 people in attendance. Rebooking weddings and changing dates has made scheduling difficult. Robo says each couple has handled their wedding realities in different ways.
He says, “Some are really getting into it on their day even though they’re 100 people shy of how many they would have had there and they’re really happy and they’re having a good time. And some of them are taken aback by the fact their day wasn’t as special as they wanted it.”
Robo says many brides were smart and postponed ceremonies to 2021 right when the pandemic hit. He says officiating is part-time for him and he feels for vendors and venues whose jobs are impacted.
