The deadline to renew inspection stickers is almost here.
The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles [RMV] extended the deadlines for car inspections until July 31 after Governor Charlie Baker issued a State of Emergency in March.
Drivers with stickers expiring in March, April, and May have until Friday to renew.
Jim Dunn, owner of Jim and Sons Auto Repair, says his business has not seen many commercial vehicles because less of them are on the road, but plans to see more when they hit the road again.
He says he saw a drop of customers compared to last year early on during the pandemic. The biggest difference came in April. He inspected less than 200 cars compared to 440 in 2019.
Dunn he says he expects a rush the next few days.
“The first month, two months that was it but we advise our customers to come in and avoid the rush cause I have no idea what the next few days are going to be like," Dunn said.
Drivers licenses expiring in July will need to be renewed in November; and licenses with August expirations will need to be renewed by the end of December.
