School reopening preparations in Worcester continue this week.

The School Committee will hold a forum with doctors on Wednesday.

Medical professionals will answer questions about COVID-19 and how it will impact schools.

Superintendent Maureen Binienda says the most challenging part of the reopening is evolving public health information.

She says the medical community is split on if young children are at risk or can transfer the virus.

The school district administration meets with Worcester pediatricians every week.

Binienda said, “We talk every Wednesday for an hour about updated guidance and what are they suggesting we do, and what are things we should prepare for so our students do not get the virus. We know that parents are getting very nervous about what they are going to do with their children when school starts. We acknowledge that. We're working as quickly as we can."

The district will need to provide their plans to the state’s Department of Education on Friday, July 31.
