Baseball is coming back in Worcester. The Worcester Bravehearts are set to play this summer and will start their season July 2nd with an away game in Connecticut against the New Britain Bees.

The Futures Collegiate Baseball League announced Monday it will play with six teams, including the Bravehearts. The four-time FCBL champions will play away games in Connecticut and in New Hampshire until Massachusetts moves to phase 3 of its reopening plan. Worcester's first home game is scheduled for Saturday, July 11th.

General Manager Dave Peterson says one of the biggest changes for fans is all seats will be general admission. Families will be taken to their seats and then staff will tape off a six foot perimeter around each group.

"We look forward to being outdoors and watching baseball. It is going to look different this year, but everything looks different in 2020. We’re happy to do this for players who lost out on spring season and fans who want to get out of house and come enjoy a safe outdoor activity" says Peterson.

The Bravehearts plan to release a "Covid Readiness Plan" on Thursday with guidelines for players and fans to follow. It will also include information on the team's youth baseball camps, which they still plan on hosting.

The Pittsfield Suns will not being playing this summer, but are planning for baseball's return in 2021.
