Armsby Abbey in downtown Worcester has announced a temporary closure for the summer season. What they were going through shows the impact the pandemic has had on many small businesses.

Armsby Abbey announced they will be closing for the summer on Sunday, June 21.

The restaurant has been open for takeout and delivery since March. Still, 30 employees have been laid off and the restaurant says it’s only maintaining around 25 percent of its normal sales.

In an Instagram post, Armsby Abby executives say with the opening of outdoor dining, sales have dropped even more, since the restaurant cannot accommodate outdoor seating. They say they're planning a Labor Day reopening on September 1.
