WORCESTER - A Boston-based architecture firm is making personal protective equipment for hospitals in Worcester.

To date, RODE Architects has produced nearly 200 face shields using 3D printers.

Architectural Designer Alex Zee says they met with several medical professionals to discuss the best design.

He says the ones they created can be washed and reused.

"This is a design that you can replace mask, wipe it down, easily assemble it back together and use it multiple times. It can be dedicated to each professional,” Zee said.

The firm hopes to make at least another 200 shields for nearby hospitals and other industries as they continue to reopen and have a need for PPE.
