HADLEY - Off Milk Lane in Hadley is a farm that is known for having the best chocolate milk in the entire state of Massachusetts.
Jessica Dizek and her sister, Jennifer Zina, are the owners of Mapleline Farm.
"The farm has been here since 1904 and it’s been in our family since. My sister and I are fifth generation here running the farm,” said Dizek.
Zina added, "This is our little slice of heaven here in Hadley."
Mapleline Farm is the home for about 300 Jersey cows.
"Jersey milk makes it really rich and creamy and gives it a really dense flavor,” Dizek explained.
The cows get milked twice a day.
"We start about 4:30 in the morning and then again 4:30 in the afternoon,” Zina said. From start to finish every step to make the chocolate milk happens on the farm.
"All the yummy chocolate gets added and our perfect chocolate milk is bottled and ready for the public,” said Zina.
It hits the shelves within 24 hours, which is very fresh.
Perry James runs a website where he rates chocolate milk. He’s tasted more than 1,400 varieties. He says Mapleline’s was easily number one in the state.
"It started and ended with cocoa and the cream sustained the flavor beautifully through the whole experience,” said James.
He says a lot goes into eating each chocolate milk and often times they are too sweet, but this one immediately stood out.
"I would say one sip and you're good but who am I kidding, you're going to want to drink the whole thing,” said James.
Dizek said when they heard the news, “We were totally ecstatic and pleased to be named the best chocolate milk in Massachusetts. Because quite honestly, if you look at list that was reviewed there's some really great farms doing some incredible work and they are all really delicious if you ask me."
“We take care of our girls and they take care of us,” said Zina.
