PITTSFIELD - The Berkshire Museum’s iconic stegosaurus, Wally, is taking a road trip to have some restoration work done.
Executive Director Jeff Rodgers said, “He’s been here since 1997 in the rain and the snow and the sun, and he was due for a facelift.”
Wally rode out of Pittsfield Friday morning and down Route 7 through Berkshire County on his way to New York.
His trip gave some a much-needed chance to get out of the house and have some fun.
While the Berkshire Museum is closed during the coronavirus pandemic, Rodgers says they’re still finding ways to connect with the community.
“We’re moving our ‘Little Cinema’ online. We're calling it the ‘Littlest Cinema’ now, so people can enjoy some of those harder to find films at home," Rogers said. "And we’re going to be launching some live, museum-based trivia nights on Zoom next week.”
Rodgers says he’s not sure when the museum will be able to re-open, but they’re working on plans for a big celebration when the day comes.
“We hope, at the end of all this, we’ll be able to bring the community together. We’ll take a look at our losses and start that healing process, but also want to celebrate our resiliency," Rodgers said.
