The Boys and Girls Club of Worcester wants to make sure students have a place to go, while also respecting all Massachusetts mandated precautionary measures.

At an emergency meeting Monday in Worcester Executive Director Liz Hamilton says she's concerned about children who need daycare with because their parents are working or aren't able to care for them.

She wants to make sure they are open, but need all staff, volunteers and children to be happy.

Hamilton, "We are being informed by health professionals that if we are to stay open we would not be able to have more than ten kids in a room, because they need to make sure there is social distancing, we also have to every two hours have everyone leave the rooms and sanitize so that takes up time and staffing. It also makes it harder for me to serve as many kids as we normally serve because we serve about 600 kids a day, I do not have 60 rooms. So we have to figure out and be strategic about how we're going to be open and how we're going to serve."

Hamilton says their goal is to stay open as long as they can. But they'll also be available by phone and teleconferencing for kids who are not able to be on site. She says if they have to close they hope to still provide food and on line educational access.
