Munica Valiton started photography at a young age, with some help from her older sister. Valiton, “She had a black room, a dark room as they call it, and she would develop black and white photography in there, and I was just so happy to see it and be a part of it, and she’d teach me how to use it.”

Now, some of her best work is on display in Adams town hall. “It was hard. It was hard to pick which ones, because I literally have thousands, so I think I picked out like fifty.”

Although Valiton has been an artist her entire life, she says her photography work slowed down after she had children. Now her kids are grown up and moved out, so she’s ready to get back to her passion. She says Adams played a big role in wanting to pick up the camera again.

Valiton, “When I came to this town, I moved here because it inspired me… They have fantastic buildings and architecture … And with that inspiration, I took out my camera again and started the artwork.”

Valiton has lived in town for only a year and she says she can’t wait to capture more of the town and the surrounding region this spring.

“Now the warm weather’s approaching us, so I’ll be back out there, and I’ll be doing more photography. There’s so many places yet to see in Adams that I can’t wait to go and conquer with my trusty old camera.”
