WORCESTER - A new report by the Worcester Regional Research Bureau shows occupancy rates for downtown office space in Worcester are on the rise.
The Research Bureau says the last report, done in 2011, showed declining occupancy. Now, vacancy is at 12%.
CEO Paul Matthews said the city has changed a lot in the last decade and the downtown area is the center of it. Matthews said, “There’s a lot happening downtown and the two really interrelate...the growth of amenities has led to more commercial office space occupancy, but the more occupants leads to more development of more amenities so the two feed each other.”
The report tracked total space, available space, rental costs, parking and other amenities in 12 downtown properties.
