MARLBOROUGH - Athletic directors from The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association [MIAA] have voted in favor of a new statewide playoff tournament format. 

The 193-140 vote means moving away from sectional tournaments for all team sports including baseball, basketball, and football. 

This newly adopted plan will do away with the current format of Central, Western, North, and South regional tournaments in favor of a statewide divisional format.

This will begin in fall 2021.
