WORCESTER - Work on the Midtown Mall's facade will have to wait. Worcester's Historical Commission rejected a request to demolish the building's facade.

We also heard from one business owner who is leaving the downtown spot because the rent got too high.

Lorna Ellis, owner of 4U Bridal and Prom, said she moved from the Midtown Mall to Main Street when the Mall's new owner told her rent was going up. She said there wasn't enough foot traffic in the mall to pay the new price.

Ellis believes other shops at the Midtown Mall will soon be closing as well due to the increase in rent.

"There was no business downtown and a lot of customers have problem with parking and then the new owner wanted to close at 6 o'clock and sometimes customers come at 6 o'clock and have to bang on the door to get in and that isn't ogod for my business because people work and come from other towns and they come after 6 o'clock," Ellis said.

4U Bridal and Prom plans to officially open their new Main St. location on Monday, February 10.
