WORCESTER - The craving for something sweet is tough to beat.
Saturday marked National Chocolate Candy Day -- just in time for you to get it of out of the way of your New Year's resolution to eat healthier.
Chocolate candies are some of the most popular treats in America year-round.
Many people buy them for loved ones during the holiday season.
Auburn fruit, nut and candy shop, Arcade Snacks, says the holiday season is their busiest time of the year.
"Opening a gift of chocolate, whether it be a chocolate box, we do tins of chocolate, you just open it up and get that fresh smell. Chocolate makes people happy," said Pamela O'Coin, manager at Arcade Snacks.
Here's a fun fact: Each American consumes about 12 pounds of chocolate each year.
