ADAMS- A fire at an apartment building on Edmunds St. in Adams early Sunday morning has displaced nine people.

In the days since, the communit has come together to support the victims.

Berkshire Helping Hands founder Marilyn Honig is helping to coordinate donations.

Honig said, "There’s people that are offering every day. It’s just like a snowball effect in a great way, and we have more and more people that are reaching out as week speak. So we’re all very grateful and I know the families are very grateful.”

Michaela Lavigne and her family lost their two dogs and all their possessions to the fire.

She started a GoFundMe, which has already raised more than $4,000.

"We are so blessed to have each other, amazing friends, famly and a community with outpouring support. With everything we lost, we have gained an extremely deep gratitude for all we are being given."In an update on the page, Lavigne wrote, "We are so blessed to have each other, amazing friends, famly and a community with outpouring support. With everything we lost, we have gained an extremely deep gratitude for all we are being given."

Two other families also lost their homes in the fire.

Honig's group has helped more than a dozen fire victims in the Northern Berkshires this year. She says every time the community has given its full support to those affected.

“We all work together and we’re all reaching out, and it’s like we’re one giant, community family, and I absolutely love it," Honig said.
